The Problem

The past year has seen a surge in organisations of all sizes, embarking on DE&I journey to diversify their workplaces with talented and skilled individuals,

However, very few organisations have the knowledge and accessibility to resources to walk the talk.

Companies needs and pain points

Using the discussion guide during the interview to gather relevant information – helped in defining the outcomes and deliverables.

Start ups and new businesses want to be part of the DE&I cause, however have

  •  Lack of understanding of DE&I implementation techniques and strategies

  •  Knowledge of DE&I

  •  Access to niche resources to widen their talent pool.

Defined the problem statement that sparked the ideation process.

Affinity mapping helped in identifying pain points and themes from user research.

Persona

Brooke, an HR exec, strengthening employee and partner relationships through CSR initiatives

Brooke is a Marketing and Communications Executive for a global engineering services company, responsible for driving CSR initiatives. She firmly believes that it is crucial for organisations to give back to the community as it also gives them an opportunity to strengthen relationships with customers and attract diverse talent.

Brooke wants to focus on embedding DE&I policies and frameworks for her organisation.

She wants to use a lean framework that is effective, efficient and scalable based on the the maturity status of each area. Brooke needs a streamlined digital interface to achieve the desired outcomes. She needs access to information on DE&I policies and what are the policies that are relevant to her organisation.

Learnings from Usability Testing

Navigation bar

Card sorting helped us in analysing the content that was readily available with us. Organise the content to improve the labelling and grouping information..

Improved features

The personas helped in understanding that “knowledge hub” was one of the component that will add immense value to the HR execs.

Improved the copy

Recognising the “value of content on the platform” we worked on developing content early on., however usability test helped us in further improving the content.

Updating and iterating prototype

I developed low fidelity  prototype using black-and-white wireframes for content planning moving to high- fidelity prototypes before usability testing,.

The pain points discovered from the usability test helped in further improving the UI and I started to work on them after prioritising the pain points.

Designing the logo and visual components

include logo new.png

As this was a new offering to be delivered by the charity,  it was important to tie it to the current brand whilst building it as another brand targeting specific audience.

Designed the logo and visual components aligned to Astriid's logo and branding guidelines.

The solution

The solution I built for Astriid, is a new service that will enable companies to embed DE&I into their workplace using Astriid's

  • Toolkits to plan and define their goals and vision.

  • Knowledge hub to help companies find information on DE&I best practices and collaborate with like-minded organisations.

  • Access to Astriid's talentpool to recruit diverse talent.

It is a new offering from Astriid. We are starting lean and will build the service based on the learnings over the next few months. This incremental approach will also give us the flexibility to understand the requirements and enhance the user experience.
